Pumpkin Sorbet

After an early October of 75 degree days, it is finally Fall in Chicago! I’ve been waiting for this sweater weather and all of the delicious fall treats that come with it. Even though the past couple days have been cold and rainy, I was craving a cold creamy treat and whipped up this pumpkin sorbet in the ice cream maker. The result was delicious.

  • 2 c. water

  • 3/4 c. sugar

  • 1 can pumpkin puree

  • cinnamon

  • ground ginger

  • splash of lemon juice (optional)

  1. Mix the water and sugar together in a pot and boil over medium heat until all the sugar is dissolved.

  2. Stir the rest of the ingredients into the sugar water and refrigerate until cool, about 30 minutes.

  3. Put the mixture into the ice cream maker and wait. The mixture will start to thicken up as it gets cold and the result is a creamy, cinnamony fall sorbet. Enjoy!
